Event Declared Effortless by Everyone Who Never Entered Service Corridor
The crew behind the curtain would like a sandwich and the correct closing time.

BEHIND THE BALLROOM — Guests described the gala as effortless. Behind the ballroom, an AV technician had replaced a cable, a steward had cleared a spill and a cook had found a way to serve a late dietary request without delaying a hundred plates.
Security held the delivery route. The loading-dock team shifted an arrival. A server intercepted a guest walking toward the kitchen because he thought it might be the restroom.
Onstage, the host thanked the visionaries who made the evening possible. The crew listened through a monitor while moving the next cart. Their vision was a clear corridor and a break before midnight.
At the debrief, somebody said the event had practically run itself. The banquet team asked whether it might also load itself out. No volunteers appeared. The people nobody had seen got back to work.
